atlas is built on a simple principle: your memories belong to you. we designed atlas to be a private sanctuary for your travel experiences, not a platform to harvest your data.

account information: when you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication purposes only.

your content: photos, voice notes, reflections, and location data you add to atlas are stored locally on your device by default. if you choose to enable cloud sync (premium feature), this data is encrypted end-to-end before leaving your device.

usage analytics: we collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to understand how atlas is used and improve the app. this does not include any personal content or identifiable information.

we never access, view, or analyze the content of your memories. your photos, voice recordings, written reflections, and location data are yours alone. we cannot see them, and we don't want to.

by default, all your data lives on your device. this means:

• your memories work offline
• no one can access your data without your device
• if you delete the app, your local data is gone

premium users can enable cloud sync for backup and multi-device access. when enabled:

• all data is encrypted on your device before upload
• we use end-to-end encryption - we cannot decrypt your data
• you can delete your cloud data at any time

when you create or join a trip capsule with friends, memories shared to that capsule are encrypted and stored on our servers until the capsule opens. only capsule members can decrypt and view these memories.

we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. we use essential services like authentication providers and cloud infrastructure, all bound by strict data processing agreements.

you can export all your data at any time. you can delete your account and all associated data from the settings. we honor all applicable data protection rights under gdpr, ccpa, and similar regulations.
